The Foothills of Mt. Mansfield

A gorgeous ride through the back roads of Underhill and surrounding areas with views of the Green Mountains and plenty of farms.

Underhill, Vermont | 17 Miles | 1,372ft elevation gain

This ride is out-and-back with a small loop at its half point to avoid riding on main roads. Make no mistake, the views on Irish Settlement road are beautiful in both directions. However, if you would like to make the ride a full loop and come back on pavement, you could return on Pleasant Valley Rd. The ride starts out with almost three miles worth of climbing at a gradual grade, the steepest punch hitting around 12%. Once you get past those first three miles, it’s mostly downhill to the small loop with a couple of short uphills, making it a pretty leisurely ride. When you get to the intersection of Irish Settlement and Pleasant Valley at the 7 mile mark, you’ll come across Valley Dream Farm, a cute market with local produce and snacks- we recommend stopping! Once you’re done with the small loop, you’ll come back the way you came which of course means a gradual climb until the last three miles, after which you will zoom down the hill to the finish line.
