A beautiful, hilly ride with views that justify the climbing
Richmond, Jericho and West Bolton, Vermont | 25 Miles | 2000ft elevation gain
This route starts and ends in the quaint town of Richmond, a cyclist’s dream complete with a delicious bakery, a capable bike shop, and an awesome brewery. Though the parking lot is on Bridge Street at the Volunteer Green, we recommend starting out with a pastry from Sweet Simone’s just down the road before beginning the climb up Bolton. From there, you will do 10 miles of steady climbing with the toughest grade topping out at 12% at around the peak of 1090ft. The very start/end of the climb is pavement, but the majority is on gravel. After the fun descent, you’ll cross the Winooski River and hop onto Dugway Road, a gorgeous segment that runs parallel to Huntington River. After this gradual ascent, you’ll hit one last steeper climb on Hillview Road before flying down Kenyon Rd and W Main St to the end.
Cycle another half mile on Bridge St past the parking lot and hang a right on Huntington Road for a beer and some lunch at Stone Corral Brewery. For any bicycle-needs, check out Village Bicycle on Bridge St.
